Granite Construction Company actively soliciting bids from prospective subcontractors or materials suppliers whose businesses qualify as Section 3 Business Concerns, as well as individuals who qualify as Section 3 Residents in connection with the above mentioned project to be located in the County of Kern and funded by HUD. Qualified individuals may contact Granite Construction Company for more information. A Section 3 Business Concern is a business:
(1) that is 51% or more owned by Section 3 Residents; or
(2) whose permanent, full-time employees include persons, at least 30 percent of whom are currently Section 3 Residents, or within three years of the date of first employment with the business concern were Section 3 Residents; or
(3) that provides evidence of a commitment to subcontract in excess of 25 percent of the dollar award of all subcontracts to be awarded to business concerns that meet the qualifications set forth in paragraphs (1) or (2) in this definition of Section 3 Business Concern.
A Section 3 Resident is:
(1) a resident of public housing located in Kern County, or
(2) an individual who resides in the County of Kern and who is a low or very-low income person.
Granite Construction Company is signatory to Operating Engineers, Laborers, Teamsters, Cement Masons and Carpenters unions. 100% Performance & payment bonds may be required for the full amount of Subcontract price. Granite will pay for bond premium up to 1.5%. Subcontractors must possess a current contractors license, insurance and Worker's compensation coverage meeting Granite's requirements and will be required to sign the standard Granite Subcontract Agreement. A copy of the insurance requirements and agreements can be obtained by contacting the Estimator.
