General work description: 24th Street Improvement Project
Addition on one lane in each direction along SR-178 (24th Street) from the westerly limit of the Kern River Bridge to the Union Ave. Exit Ramp. Work includes replacement of existing pavement, drainage improvements, construction of sound walls, traffic signal improvements, grading, retaining wall, culvert extension, landscaping, irrigation, and adjacent private property curative work.
DBE Goal: 12%
Qualified subcontractors and suppliers including certified DBE firms are asked to submit quotes for all bid items including but not limited to those in conjunction with Caltrans work classification codes:C0639 asphalt supplier, C0651 concrete & cement supplier, C1200 construction area signs, C1201 traffic control, C1522 reset/adjust roadway items, C1531 plane asphalt concrete, C2000 highway planting, C2021 hydroseeding, C2030 erosion control, C2065 irrigation system, C2066 temporary erosion control, C3701 seal coat, C5105 minor concrete structure, C5180 sound wall, C5201 reinforcing steel, C5601 sign structure, C5620 roadside sign, C6500 reinforced concrete pipe, C7301 concrete curb/sidewalk, C7602 sawcutting, C8331 concrete barrier, C8405 thermoplastic traffic striping & marking, C8604 lighting, C8760 land surveyor, C8852 SWPPP, C9606 water truck
Quotations will be broken down into comparable packages as reasonably necessary. Granite will work with interested subcontractors to identify opportunities to break down items into economically feasible packages.
Requirements:Granite is signatory to Operating Engineers, Laborers, Teamsters, Cement Masons, and Carpenters Unions. 100% performance and payment bonds required for the full amount of the subcontract price. Granite may assist with the bond premium up to 1.5%. Subcontractors must possess a current contractor’s license, insurance and worker’s compensation insurance coverage meeting Granite’s requirements and will be required to sign the standard Granite Subcontract Agreement. A copy of the insurance requirements and agreements can be obtained by contacting the Estimator.

For any bid proposal submitted on or after March 1, 2015 and any contract for public work entered into on or after April 1, 2015, the following registration requirements apply: Every Subcontractor is required to be registered to perform public work pursuant to Section 1725.5 of the Public Contract Code (“Section 1725.5”). No Contractor or Subcontractor shall be qualified to bid on, be listed in a bid proposal pursuant to Section 4104 of the Public Contract Code, or engage in the performance of any contract for public work, unless currently registered to perform public work pursuant to Section 1725.5. No bid shall be accepted nor any subcontract entered into without proof of the Subcontractor’s current registration to perform public work pursuant to Section 1725.5.
