The Highway 101: Summerland Project (Segment 4C) is the second of five Segments that will improve the Highway 101 corridor between Carpinteria and Santa Barbara, CA. Granite Construction has been awarded the Caltrans Preconstruction Services Contract and anticipates a contract to serve as the General Contractor. Granite is looking for qualified subcontractors and suppliers to join them in constructing this historic project.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Construction on State Highway in Santa Barbara County on Route 101. The Project is intended to construct one new part-time continuous access High Occupancy Vehicle lane on U.S. 101 in each direction between Carpinteria and Santa Barbara as well as remove and replace all existing lanes and shoulders.
PROJECT LOCATION: From 0.2 mile west of Padaro Lane to 0.5 mile west of Sheffield Drive in the County of Santa Barbara (Segment 4C).

Requirements: For any bid proposal submitted on or after March 1, 2015 and any contract for public work entered into on or after April 1, 2015, the following registration requirements apply: Every Subcontractor is required to be registered to perform public work pursuant to Section 1725.5 of the Public Contract Code (“Section 1725.5”). No Contractor or Subcontractor shall be qualified to bid on, be listed in a bid proposal pursuant to Section 4104 of the Public Contract Code, or engage in the performance of any contract for public work, unless currently registered to perform public work pursuant to Section 1725.5. No bid shall be accepted nor any subcontract entered into without proof of the Subcontractor’s current registration to perform public work pursuant to Section 1725.5.
Granite Construction Company is signatory to Operating Engineers, Laborers, Teamsters, Cement Masons and Carpenters unions. 100% performance and payment bonds may be required for the full amount of subcontract price. Subcontractors must possess a current contractor’s license, insurance and worker’s compensation coverage meeting Granite’s requirements and will be required to sign the standard Granite Subcontract Agreement.
