Project Owner: County of Sonoma Contract # C09001

Bid Date: 03.06.24 | 2:00 pm  Fax Quotes to: 707.467.4143

General work description: Sonoma County Public Infrastructure proposes to construct a new two-lane Geysers Road Bridge (Bridge No. 20C0595) (proposed project) over Big Sulphur Creek in Sonoma County, California, with a bridge that meets current American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) requirements. The existing one lane bridge (Bridge No. 20C0005) is over 90 years old and does not meet current seismic standards. The existing bridge is eligible for the National Register of Historic Places and is a Sonoma County Historic Landmark and will remain in place after construction is complete. The existing bridge will be closed to all modes of traffic, including bicyclists and pedestrians. Minor maintenance of the existing bridge will be included as part of the proposed project. The proposed project would also widen the roadway approaches approximately 277 and 188 feet (ft) on the west and east ends of the bridge, respectively, to conform to the bridge width and profile. After construction, both the bridge and roadway approaches would contain two 11-ft lanes (one in each direction) and two 3-ft shoulders and would meet current AASHTO minimum speed standards. Bridge construction, bridge maintenance, road construction, retaining walls, roadway grading, bio-infiltration ditches, drainage improvements, RSP placement, and channel revegetation are included as part of the proposed project.
