General work description: Contract No. HD-S3044 – Project consists of procurement and installation of railroad track, special track work (turnouts and crossovers); concrete cross ties; construction of continuous welded rail; construction of storm drain lines, demolition/construction of retaining wall, realignment of Harbor Scenic Drive, modifications to existing railroad signal system, including procurement, installation, and integration of RailComm remote throw switch machines with existing RailComm yard control system, and major electrical work.
Granite Construction Company (Granite) is requesting quotes from qualified Small Business Enterprises (SBE), Very Small Business Enterprise (VSBE) and all other Subcontractors and Suppliers for the following items of work, including but not limited to: Aggregate Supply, Ballast, Concrete Supply, Electrical, Fence/Guardrail, Geosynthetic Material, Hazardous Material Disposal, Landscape & Irrigation, Manholes, Milling, PCC Supplies, Pipe Supply, Potholing, Quality Control, Rebar, Ready Mix Concrete, Signal , Striping, Survey, SWPPP Plan, Trackwork, Trucking.

This project has a 27% SBE/VSBE goal.
In addition to request for participation from Certified SBE/VSBE subcontractors and suppliers, Granite request Non-SBE/VSBE subcontractors to provide lower-tier SBE/VSBE subcontractor and/or supplier participation. Bidders are encouraged to indicate lower-tier SBE participation, as it will be evaluated as part of their quote.

Granite Construction Company is signatory to Operating Engineers, Laborers, Cement Masons and Carpenters unions. Granite may require 100% performance and payment bonds for the full amount of subcontract price. Granite Construction will assist with bonding costs for subcontractors. Additionally, The US Small Business Administration may also assist you in obtaining bonding, for more information please visit them at http://www.sba.gov/content/contractors#. Subcontractors must possess a current contractor’s license, insurance and worker’s compensation coverage meeting Granite’s requirements and will be required to sign the standard Granite Subcontract Agreement. A copy of the insurance requirements and subcontract agreement are available upon request. The full agreement can be obtained by contacting Granite. Subcontractors must also be registered with a current DIR number.
