Orion Construction Corp. an Equal Opportunity Employer is requesting sub-bids from all qualified subcontractors and suppliers including certified SBE firms performing commercially useful function for referenced project:

Project Name: Demolition and Site Improvements of Transit Shed 2 and Rail Improvements at Tenth Avenue Marine Terminal

Scope of work: The work shall include hazardous materials abatement (primarily asbestos and lead based paint), structural deconstruction; demolition and removal of Transit Shed No. 2 and Head House, recycling or legal disposal of all demolished materials; water, gas, and electrical abandonment; electrical utility service upgrades, including 90 foot high mast lighting, utilities for future modular restroom, fire protection system, storm water conveyance improvements, AC pavement system; CCTV camera installation, rail lubricator, trailer-mounted rail brake air compressors; and other works as shown on the Plans and as specified.

The total contract duration is 330 calendar days.

Engineer’s estimate: $7,400,000.00

Orion Construction Corp. is requesting quotes from all qualified subcontractors and suppliers especially certified SBE firms for the following items of work, including but not limited to:

Electrical, Demolition, Gunite (Brow Ditches), Jack and Bore, SWPPP Implementation/Erosion Control (Fiber Rolls, Silt Fence, Gravel Bages and Hydroseed), Surveying, Concrete Structures, Wet Utilities, Dewatering, Paving/Resurfacing Highway, Hazardous materials abatement (primarily asbestos and lead based paint), structural deconstruction, recycling or legal disposal of all demolished materials, water, gas, and electrical abandonment; electrical utility service upgrades, including 90 foot high mast lighting, utilities for future modular restroom, fire protection system, storm water conveyance improvements, AC pavement system; CCTV camera installation, rail lubricator, trailer-mounted rail brake air compressors.

Requirements: Orion Construction may assist with the bond premium up to 1.5%.  Subcontractors must possess a current contractor’s license, insurance and worker’s compensation insurance A copy of the insurance requirements and agreements can be obtained by contacting the Estimator.  The US Small Business Administration may also assist you in obtaining bonding - please see the following site for more information:  http://www.sba.gov/content/contractors#

For any bid proposal submitted on or after March 1, 2015 and any contract for public work entered into on or after April 1, 2015, the following registration requirements apply:  Every Subcontractor is required to be registered to perform public work pursuant to Section 1725.5 of the Public Contract Code (“Section 1725.5”).  No Contractor or Subcontractor shall be qualified to bid on, be listed in a bid proposal pursuant to Section 4104 of the Public Contract Code, or engage in the performance of any contract for public work, unless currently registered to perform public work pursuant to Section 1725.5.  No bid shall be accepted nor any subcontract entered into without proof of the Subcontractor’s current registration to perform public work pursuant to Section 1725.5
